Motorsports Technologies Teams Up With Florida Hospital Cancer Institute for Grand-Am Finale

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2001) -- One of the top teams in the Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series will be sporting a new paint scheme at the Grand-Am Finale, Nov. 1-3. Motorsports Technologies, based in Deland, Fla., has teamed up with the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute to honor the race fans whose lives have been touched by cancer. They will do so by displaying the Institute's name and logo on the hood of four of their race cars during the Friday, Nov. 2, four-hour race at Daytona International Speedway.

The partnership between the race team and the Institute began after the unfortunately loss of a friend and fan of Motorsports Technologies, Rod Brown of Orlando, who succumb to his battle with lung cancer earlier this year. Rod was treated at Florida Hospital Institute during his fight with the disease, and to honor his life and dedication to racing, his family is holding a fundraiser to benefit Florida Hospital Cancer Institute in their race for a cure.

The Motorsport Technologies' #112 BMW M3 lead a field of cars involved in the fundraiser that includes the #15 Porsche TT, #21 Acrua Integra GSR and #123, all of which will be displaying the Institute's name and logo. The #02 Mosler will also join in the effort during the Rolex Sports Car Series race on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Johannes Steiner of Naples, and Orlando's Dave Russell will run the lead BMW in the Grand Sport class. Team owner Dino Steiner will pull double duty, racing in the Porsche on Friday night and the Mosler during Saturday night's race. Motorsport Technologies is currently second in the SGS team championship race, with Steiner third in the class driver championship standings.

The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is dedicated to providing the most advanced programs of treatment and care available to cancer patients in Central Florida. More than 3,600 newly diagnosed cancer patients are treated at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute each year, more than any other program in Florida.
