U.S. F2000 DRIVERS FINALISTS IN TEAM USA SCHOLARSHIP

	FAIRFIELD, N.J. (October 15, 2001)—This past weekend three U.S. F2000
National Championship drivers were named as finalists for the prestigious
Team USA Scholarship.
Travis Irving, Mike Potekhen and Bryan Sellers were selected as finalists,
along with nine other young drivers, for the Team USA Scholarship and
invited to Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca to meet with the selection panel.
	Irving, of Chino Hills, Calif., competed in four U.S. F2000 races in 2001,
capturing two top-10 finishes. The highlight was a third place finish at the
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in his first-ever race, after starting third on
the grid. In addition to racing the U.S. F2000 National Championship in
2001, Irving contested selected Formula Continental and Formula Ford races
in SCCA Club Racing.
	Potekhen, of Phoenix, Ariz., enjoyed a great rookie season in U.S. F2000 in
2001. In 11 races, Potekhen captured seven top-10 finishes, three podium
finishes and two wins. At the season-finale doubleheader at Sebring
International Raceway, he ended the season in style, winning both rounds,
leading the most laps and setting a new race lap record.
	Sellers, of Centerville, Ohio, received his second consecutive selection in
2001 after contesting a limited campaign in U.S. F2000. In eight races, with
two different teams, Sellers captured two top-10 finishes. His best race was
at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, when he moved up seven positions in the
race, finishing seventh.
	Begun in 1990, the Team USA Scholarship was created to assist aspiring up
and coming American drivers. By establishing contacts in the racing
industry, meeting various team, chassis and engine representatives, and in
certain instances, contesting a winter series championship, past winners
have benefited extensively from this program and moved up the racing ladder.
	This year, the selection panel will choose two drivers. The panel,
consisting of former drivers, motorsports media and industry
representatives, will announce the winners at the CART FedEX Championship
race at California Speedway, November 4, 2001. The winners will join a
select group of former winners including Jimmy Vasser, Bryan Herta, Jerry
Nadeau and fellow U.S. F2000 alumni, Memo Gidley and Buddy Rice. If
sufficient funding is raised, the 2001 winners will contest the competitive
New Zealand Formula Ford Summer Series in January and February.
