SI Technologies Subsidiary Announces Significant Order From Major Automotive Manufacturer
TUSTIN, Calif--Oct. 15, 2001--SI Technologies, Inc. :Heavy Die Transporter Cart Will Handle Increased Production
and Load Demands At Automotive Metal Stamping Plant
SI Technologies, Inc. , which designs, manufactures and markets high-performance, industrial sensors, weighing and factory automation equipment and systems, today announced that its AeroGo, Inc. subsidiary has received a significant order to supply a 40-ton die handling cart for a major international automotive manufacturing company.
The contract calls for AeroGo to design and manufacture an AGV wheeled die transporter for the movement of dies between large stamping presses and tooling/cleaning areas in one of the manufacturer's American automotive metal stamping plants. The system will replace a smaller 20-ton unit that covered a smaller travel area, providing reliable and critical production support and requiring no backup system. The metal stamping plant is an integral part of an advanced integrated automobile production facility located in Midwestern U.S. The AGV transporter is equipped with advanced systems for efficient, automated guidance and call/send control that will be integrated with existing AGV networks. It also incorporates several special proprietary AeroGo features, including high load-bearing wheel technology and controls for ultra-heavy load moving, Load Soft(TM) shock-absorbing technology that minimizes crane loading shocks, and Adaptive Suspension(TM) for uniformly distributed floor loading.
"We are very pleased that this leading automobile manufacturer has selected our AGV die transporter for the handling of increased production and load demands at its metal stamping plant," stated Rick Beets, President and Chief Executive Officer of SI Technologies, Inc. "The AeroGo AGV cart will play a key role in optimizing the efficiency of the entire production facility by providing a tremendous degree of flexibility and reliability, in addition to its heavy duty capabilities."
AeroGo will design and manufacture the cart at its plant in Seattle, Washington, where it has developed a strong reputation for providing specialized equipment for the movement and positioning of ultra-heavy industrial loads with both solid tire and air-flotation systems. The customer will also be able to easily track the transporter project's progress with AeroGo's unique Project View(TM) interface, which allows web-based tracking of project milestones and visual design/manufacturing images from any designated PC.
