CASCAR: MMC Group Retained
CANADIAN ASSOCIATION FOR STOCK CAR AUTO RACING
For Immediate Release - October 12, 2001
MMC GROUP MARKETING FIRM RETAINED BY CASCAR
LONDON, ON - The Canadian Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (CASCAR)
has retained the MMC Group marketing firm of Brantford, Ontario as its
agency of record for sponsor program development and execution.
"MMC Group offers a vast amount of experience that will not only serve our
present corporate partners but build new relationships for the future,"
said Tony Novotny, President of the London, Ontario-based stock car event
sanctioning group.
MMC Group was recently formed by Mitchell J. Mortimer, of Brantford, who
was in charge of race team sponsor development for CASCAR in 1999. Since
that time, Mortimer has developed several major sponsor programs in the
U.S. for NASCAR teams, including Galaxy Motorsports, where he was Senior
Vice-President of Marketing.
"This is an exciting time for CASCAR," said Mortimer, "and we feel that
our company can be instrumental in developing new corporate relationships
that will greatly increase growth of the brand."
According to Mortimer, the MMC Group staff will include Steve Stubbs, of
Lowell, NC. He is a veteran motorsports executive who formerly directed
marketing for the American Speed Association and Penske Motorsports
International group. Stubbs will also work with Novotny to assist in
sanctioning body operations.
Key MMC Group staffers will include Kelly Toyota and Gil Reicher, both of
Hamilton, Ont., in sales direction and media relations, respectively.
CASCAR recently concluded its 20th racing season and will hold its annual
Awards Presentation Banquet at the Best Western, in London, on November 17.
The 2002 Super Series racing schedule is expected to be announced at that
event.
