FOR RELEASE: October 10, 2001 GM do Brasil Delivers Emergency Aid To Storm Victims In Rio Grande do Sul
Gravatai, Rio Grande do Sul -- GM do Brasil (GMB), through its philanthropic organization "Instituto GM," today delivered emergency aid to the victims of a storm which battered parts of the Rio Grande do Sul state, especially Torotama Island.
GM's emergency aid consisted of 1000 basic goods baskets and 2000 gallons of drinking water for more 1000 families, many of which have lost their homes. Aid distribution is being coordinated by Rio Grande do Sul's Civil Defense.
Furthermore, GMB's "Instituto GM" launched an aid campaign through which the company's 19,000 employees and dealer network can contribute with non-perishable foods, water and clothing.
GM's Gravatai Automotive Complex is located in Rio Grande do Sul, but facilities and employees were not affected by the storm.
Founded in 1993, GMB's "Instituto GM" supports educational, environmental and philanthropic efforts in the communities it calls home.
