Goodson Lands USAR Ride

            Fayetteville, GA (Sept. 11, 2001) - The race is still on for Hal Goodson. Goodson, who learned earlier this week that Taylor Motorsports was ceasing operations just five days before the Mark Brooks Memorial Hooters 250, has secured a ride for this weekend's race from fellow competitor Bill Plemons, Jr.

            Plemons owns the #15 Hooters Ford and Goodson formerly drove the Carlin Financial Chevrolet. For Goodson the week that has been filled with ups and downs appears to be on the upswing.

            This is definitely a last-minute deal," added Goodson. "I am really indebted to Bill (Plemons) for giving me this opportunity. I didn't have anything to offer him other than my driving ability and he gave me a chance in one of his great cars."

            Plemons, who won his first career Hooters ProCup Series race earlier this season at Thompson Speedway, was happy to lend a helping hand.

            "I race for the love of it and it is a hobby to me," added Plemons. "I am a businessman who races as a hobby, Hal does this for a living."

            Goodson has four career wins in the Series with one of those coming earlier this season at Myrtle Beach Speedway in June.

            "Myrtle Beach (Speedway) has been a good track for me and I am confident with the equipment Bill is providing me that I would have a chance to win this weekend and move up in the championship standings," said Goodson. "Everyone on the team lost their jobs this week and they still plan on volunteering and paying their own way to help us this weekend. Jimmy King helped us at Jennerstown Speedway and he is going to be back this week. I can't thank the guys enough for sticking with me."

            Goodson enters this weekend in 8th-place in the point standings while Plemons is in 11th-place. Goodson commented on the support of Plemons despite the fact he could finish in front of Plemons and cost him money in the final point standings payoff.

            "I thought about that before I talked to Bill," added Goodson. "There again it just shows you the type of man Bill is - he is willing to help someone out in a tough situation even if it costs him something. I have a good relationship with Dale (Burns) and David (Honney) who work on his team so it will be a good situation for us. I just can't thank Bill enough."

            The deal could very well be for the remaining two Four Champions Championship Races after this weekend.

            Plemons, a former winner of the prestigious Hooters Sports News Humanitarian of the Year Award, will look as this as an opportunity to help a fellow competitor.

            "I hate something like this happened to someone who does it to support his family," added Plemons. "I hated to see this situation happen like it did."
