CTS Launches New Product Development Program for LTCC Auto Components

    ELKHART, Ind.--Oct. 9, 2001--CTS Corporation , a global leader in the design and manufacture of both resistive/non-contacting based automotive sensors and wireless handset components, today announced that the Company has launched a new product development program to supply Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic (LTCC) circuit boards and assemblies to the automotive market.
    The new program will be a cooperative effort between two CTS operations. CTS Automotive Products (Elkhart, IN) will lead the development program -- utilizing its more than 25 years of automotive electronic component design experience, its knowledge of worldwide global customer requirements, and its high-volume assembly operations located in both North America and Europe -- to design and introduce a new generation of highly reliable automotive powertrain and safety products. CTS RF Integrated Modules (West Lafayette, IN) will provide expertise in the design and production of LTCC circuits and assemblies. This world-class LTCC manufacturing facility currently supplies a wide range of component products to the global communications market for use primarily in cellular phone applications.
    The CTS product development team is in place. Multiple customers have been contacted and specific programs identified. Prototypes will be available for delivery by the end of 2001.
