MSC.Software and IBM New E-Business Platform
SANTA ANA, Calif.--Oct. 4, 2001--MSC.Software Corp. , the established information technology software and services provider helping companies worldwide develop better products faster, and IBM , today announced MSC.Software's support for the IBM eServer pSeries 690, a next-generation binary-compatible system powered by IBM's POWER4 microprocessor.
This server will allow applications like MSC.Nastran to run significantly faster, giving design engineers the optimum speed and performance to reduce costs and development time by more than 50 percent.

The combination of MSC.Nastran and the IBM eServer p690 is an important development for the automotive industry, where design engineers run complex designs through advanced simulation testing on a daily basis. The IBM eServer pSeries 690 is a datacenter-class UNIX server, containing up to 32 POWER4 microprocessors.
It has an extensive range of configuration options, including the support of Linux, an important new computing environment that is increasingly being used within the automotive industry.
POWER4 is the world's first dual processing computer chip, incorporating IBM's innovative copper and silicon-on-insulator technology, providing engineers with superior performance for the increasingly demanding design and testing required in the automotive and other industrial manufacturing industries.
