HOPKINTON, Mass.--Oct. 4, 2001--DaimlerChrysler has awarded EMC Corporation for its superior services organization and industry-driving product innovations. The world's third-largest auto manufacturer utilizes EMC information storage systems and software to provide information storage and management across its entire worldwide operations.
The award was presented at DaimlerChrysler's first-ever IT Supplier Day, a gathering of over 40 key IT vendors organized by the company's Information Technology Management (ITM) and Purchasing departments. EMC was one of only two IT vendors awarded at the event.
Sue Unger, DaimlerChrysler Senior Vice President of ITM & CIO, said, "DaimlerChrysler relies on long-term, stable partnerships, that yield a high return on investment. EMC's world-class Global Services organization, as well as their advanced management software, have helped to reduce DaimlerChrysler's infrastructure costs and our IT staff's time spent managing our storage network. Our relationship with EMC has proven that cooperation leads to the creation of exceptional value."
EMC Senior Vice President of Global Services, Joseph Walton, stated, "EMC and DaimlerChrysler have a longstanding collaborative relationship. During the Daimler-Benz/Chrysler Corporation merger three years ago, our Global Services organization worked closely with both companies' IT organizations to build a consolidated information storage infrastructure. More recently, we have worked with DaimlerChrysler's ITM department to significantly reduce the implementation time for new business applications. EMC and DaimlerChrysler have formed a trusted relationship built on years of imaginative cooperation."
DaimlerChrysler's information storage infrastructure comprises the full suite of EMC networked information storage systems and software. DaimlerChrysler's information storage network includes both storage area network (SAN) and networked attached storage (NAS) environments, as well as direct attached environments. DaimlerChrysler utilizes EMC's Symmetrix Enterprise storage systems for its mission critical applications such as SAP, Celerra for networked-attached CAD/CAM file sharing and e-business initiatives, and CLARiiON systems for distributed support.
