Christopher Whitcomb, a 15-year veteran of the FBI, served as director of the
Critical Incident Response Group’s Strategic Information Management Office. In
this role, he oversaw crisis-specific planning, strategy and dissemination of
intelligence during weapons of mass destruction attacks, terrorist threats, and
exotic criminal investigations.
Whitcomb began his FBI career as a Special Agent in the Kansas City Field
Office, Springfield Resident Agency, where he worked bank robbery, fugitive, and
violent crime investigations. In 1991, he was selected to the Bureau’s elite
Hostage Rescue Team, where he distinguished himself as an assaulter, sniper,
explosive breacher, tactical helicopter operations officer, and surveillance
photographer. He has been awarded numerous citations and awards, including the
FBI’s Medal of Bravery for exceptional courage in the line of duty.
He has participated in nearly every high profile federal investigation over the
past 10 years, including the L.A. riots, the Weaver shootings at Ruby Ridge, the
Branch Davidian standoff, the World Trade Center and Olympic Park bombings, the
United Nations war crimes investigation in Kosovo, the U.S.S. Cole attack in
Yemen, overseas fugitive apprehensions, high-risk dignitary protection details,
and witness protection assignments.
