Starcraft Corporation (OTCBB:STCR) announced today that Tecstar, a firm jointly owned by Starcraft Corporation of Goshen, Indiana and Wheel-to-Wheel, an automotive engineering firm, has been awarded two contracts to produce upfit appearance packages for popular General Motors' trucks.
Tecstar will open a new manufacturing facility close to General Motors' assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. This program for model years 2003 through 2006 will include enhancements such as exterior graphics, special wheels and ground effects.
The S10 Crew Cab Sport will be produced in Tecstar's existing Bridgewater, New Jersey plant where it is currently manufacturing its `Xtreme' Package for General Motors' 2-door Blazer.
"We are extremely proud to continue to be recognized as the exclusive Tier 1 supplier for these appearance enhancement packages to GM," said Kelly L. Rose, Chairman and CEO of Starcraft and Tecstar. "Our ability to meet stringent time to market, quality and performance standards allows GM to capitalize on specialty markets quickly and profitably."
Starcraft recently disposed of its conversion van and bus and mobility businesses to focus on its Tecstar business. Rose added, "These new contracts are evidence that our strategy to become the leader in the emerging second stage vehicle conversion industry is progressing."
