ON Semiconductor to Attain International Automotive Certification

    PHOENIX--Sept. 28, 2001--As part of its ongoing mission to lead the industry in the delivery of quality devices, ON Semiconductor today announced that it has renewed its QS9000 certification and is the first semiconductor company to attain certification in the ISO/TS16949 Quality System Standard established by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF).
    Domestic automobile manufacturers established the QS9000 standard to ensure that they were getting high-quality, standardized parts and subassemblies from a wide range of vendors who serve the automotive industry.
    A consortium of the largest automobile manufacturers from around the world established the ISO/TS16949, to set a single quality standard that addresses the growing trend of companies partnering and merging with foreign manufacturers.
    Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) LTD was the independent auditing firm that evaluated ON Semiconductor's manufacturing and quality-control processes for certification of this new standard as well as the recertification for the QS9000 standard.
