New Executive VP & GM Named for OSRAM SYLVANIA Global Lighting Business
DANVERS, Mass.--Sept. 27, 2001--
James L. Johnson, Jr., 45, has been named executive vice president and general manager for global automotive lighting and a member of the executive committee of OSRAM SYLVANIA, effective October 1, 2001, according to OSRAM SYLVANIA president Charlie Jerabek.
OSRAM SYLVANIA is the $2 billion North American lighting and precision materials business of OSRAM GmbH, a Siemens company . Together with OSRAM, the 100-year-old OSRAM SYLVANIA is one of the world's three leading lighting companies and the number one supplier of automotive lamps globally. Johnson, who will report to Jerabek for North American operations, will also report to Dr. Wolf- Dieter Bopst for operations in Europe and Asia.
Johnson is currently president and general manager of Valeo Sylvania, a joint venture between Sylvania and Valeo formed in 1998. Valeo Sylvania is one of North America's leading manufacturers of systems for forward, interior and rear automotive lighting applications. Johnson also has been named to the executive committee of OSRAM SYLVANIA, and he will remain as a member of the executive committee at Valeo Sylvania.
Johnson joined SYLVANIA in 1979 and has held several positions throughout the company including vice president OEM marketing and sales and vice president automotive lighting assemblies. Johnson is a 1978 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
