InfoMove Awarded Patent for Vehicle Diagnostics
KIRKLAND, Wash.-(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2001--InfoMove, Inc., the leading developer of telematics software and services, announces the approval of a patent (No. 6,295,492) for its vehicle diagnostic monitoring technology. The patent provides a system for transmitting, collecting and displaying diagnostic and operational information from motor vehicles to a central location. This technology will enable fleet managers to remotely monitor the performance of their vehicles using existing wireless networks, lowering maintenance costs and prolonging the life of each vehicle. In addition, automotive manufacturers will be able to use this patented technology to deploy sophisticated vehicle maintenance and repair solutions as part of their telematics service offerings.
"Remote vehicle diagnostics monitoring will be a key application for future telematics solutions," said Peter Holland, InfoMove's president and CEO. "This technology will enable InfoMove's partners to provide a wide array of vehicle diagnostics and maintenance services to their end-users, which will extend the relationship with the end-user and create new revenue streams for telematics service providers."
Using the on-board diagnostic system found in most vehicles manufactured today, InfoMove's diagnostic monitoring technology is capable of translating diagnostic codes from the vehicle into readable computer files. The translator device may be connected to an on-board computer, equipped with a wireless modem, that sends the diagnostic information over a wireless network to a wide area network. All information is stored in a central server, accessible by authorized users.
