USF Distribution Opens New Service Centers

    BOLINGBROOK, Ill.--Sept. 26, 2001--USF Distribution, a logistics subsidiary of USFreightways Corporation, announced today the openings of new service centers in Houston, TX and Lakeland, FL. These operations will provide a full range of logistics services, including overnight distribution and consolidation, and cross-docking to their respective markets.
    The Houston location, operating a 70,000 square foot facility, will serve the South Texas market including Austin, Laredo, and San Antonio. Lakeland, providing coverage to Central and South Florida including the Miami, Orlando and Tampa areas, will operate from a modern 65,000 square foot facility.
    USF Distribution President Thomas Lilly commented, "With the addition of these service centers to our network, USF Distribution now provides direct service to 55% of the major market US population."     The company currently has Seventeen service centers located in fifteen metropolitan markets.
