September 26, 2001Geoffrey Bodine On Kansas . . . "Obviously the trip to Kansas is going to be a big learning experience for everyone. I am personally looking forward to traveling there because that area is the heart of the Midwest. It's a big market for Phillips 66. They have a lot of people coming to the race and we always want to put on a good show for the sponsors when they are in town."
Donnie Richeson On Dover . . . "The No. 36 team tested Kansas earlier this year. It's a new track and because it is a new track a lot of teams figured it would have a lot of grip. It doesn't. The biggest complaint we heard from testing was that the cars were handling loose. If I had to compare it to another track I guess I'd say it's a lot like Chicago with a little less banking. It's actually banked like California Speedway, but shaped like Chicago and Las Vegas. Although it looks like Chicago, it doesn't drive like Chicago. It has its own personality. The weather is supposed to be nice and sunny, so we hope to be able to get a suitable set-up."
Equipment . . . "Twister's Sister" is the car the Phillips 66 team will compete with in the "Mr. Goodcents 300" at Kansas Speedway. "Twister's Sister" made its last appearance at California Speedway where the Phillips 66 team posted an 11th-place finish. "Twister's Sister" had its best finish of 2001 at Bristol Motor Speedway in March when the team finished a close second to winner Matt Kenseth.
Geoffreybodinefanclub.com To Conduct Fundraiser . . . Various racing memorabilia will be available for fans to make bids. Among the items to be sold is an autographed Geoffrey Bodine stand-up.
