Team Jeg's rolls into Joliet Illinois this weekend for the Inaugural NHRA Nationals. This race marks the first weekend that Pro Stock drivers Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Troy Coughlin are slated to compete with in-house power plants under the hoods of their familiar yellow and black Chevrolet Cavaliers.

The new engine made its debut last weekend, propelling defending Winston Pro-Stock Champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. to a semifinal round appearance at the AutoZone Nationals in Memphis Tennessee.

“The new engines have definitely shown potential,” said Jeg. “Having our in-house engines in both cars will certainly shorten the learning curve as we move forward with our program and long term goals. Every run provides more information to guide our efforts.”

Troy Coughlin looks to draw on some of his past success at Route 66 Raceway this weekend. Troy has one semifinal round appearance (’98) and two final-round appearances (’99,’00) at Route 66 Raceway.

“Route 66 Raceway is one of the better tracks on the circuit,” commented Troy. “The smooth racing surface makes for good side-by-side racing. Driver performance and raw horsepower will be key ingredients to a successful weekend.”

Troy Coughlin enters Joliet 20th in the point standings, just 21 points behind Allen Johnson and 23 points behind Rickie Smith. Brother Jeg Coughlin Jr. is 5th in points only 10 points back from Mike Edwards and 15 back from third place Bruce Allen.
