BusinessHere Powers Stamford's `Art-O-Mobiles' Online Auction; Artistically Decorated Car Sculptures Auctioned to Generate Funds for Charities and Non-Profits

DAYTON, Ohio--Sept. 25, 2001--BusinessHere, Inc., a leading provider of Web-based private label auction and dynamic pricing solutions, today announced that it has been chosen to power the online charity auction for Stamford, Connecticut's Art-O-Mobiles public art project at http://www.ArtOMobilesAuction.com.
Stamford's Art-O-Mobiles is following on the success of last year's "Cow Parade Stamford 2000" that featured painted fiberglass cows displayed and auctioned in Stamford. Art-O-Mobiles features seventy originally designed fiberglass car sculptures, painted and embellished by local artists. The cars, decorated by 40 accomplished artists from the region, include Beetle's Beetle, a car hand-painted by syndicated Beetle Bailey cartoonist, Mort Walker; Hit & Run, a soon-to-be-famous car autographed by the World Series' Champion New York Yankees; You Auto Believe signed by the New York Mets baseball team; Autograph, the World Wrestling Federation's car decorated with handprints and autographs of WWF wrestlers; and the patriotic Americar, featuring a collage of U.S. flags, landmarks, and slogans, are available for online bidding through September 30, 2001 at http://www.ArtOMobiles.com.
Proceeds from the online and live auctions will benefit more than thirty-five charities. In the wake of the World Trade Center and Pentagon tragedies, all the proceeds from one car sponsored the Downtown Special Services District, Leaving Paradise, has been designated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
"Combining the online auction with our live auction provides bidders with a convenient way to bid for the Art-O-Mobiles sculptures while driving bidding activity from different parts of the country," said Sandy Goldstein, executive director of Stamford Downtown.
A unique pre-bidding auction format developed by BusinessHere Inc. will provide online bidders with a chance to win Art-O-Mobiles without attending the live auction. "Live event pre-bidding allows online bidders to enter their maximum bids online prior to a live auction," said BusinessHere, chief executive officer, Andy Lehman. "At the conclusion of the online auction, high bids will be transferred to the live auction. If high bidders use our proxy-bidding feature, then a representative will bid on their behalf, at the live auction, up to their proxy-bid limit," said Lehman.
Art-O-Mobile sponsors include GE Capital , Citibank , Fleet Bank, Pitney Bowes, Cushman & Wakefield, International Paper , Purdue Pharma, Xerox Corp. , UBS Warburg, and more than 40 Stamford-area companies and organizations.
