CORR: Toyota's Kincaid wins second consecutive championship

Teammate Greaves Earns Victory, Federico Rookie Honors

TOPEKA, Kan. - Toyota powered off-road racer Jeff Kincaid clinched his second-straight Pro-Lite class championship at the season-ending Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) event in Topeka, Kan., Sept. 22-23.

Kincaid, Argonne, Wis., cruised to a third-place finish on Sunday in his Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tacoma to clinch the 2001 Pro-Lite (compact truck, 2WD) title.

"I was hoping to clinch it yesterday, but some mechanical trouble made me wait another day," said Kincaid, who is third all-time with 20 CORR wins. "Saturday's rain made the track thick with mud, but the Tacoma ran great and got the job done. Like last year, my family gets a lot of the credit for the championship."

Johnny Greaves, of DePere, Wis., earned his third Pro-4 class (full-size, 4WD) win of the season on Sunday - second most in the class - in his Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tundra 4x4. The victory, plus his second-place finish on Saturday, moved Greaves up to third overall in the final Pro-4 standings in just his first year in the class. A three-time Pro-Lite champion from 1997-99, Greaves win is the 25th of his CORR career, a series record. Having reached victory last season in the Pro-2 class (full-size, 2WD), Greaves is the only racer in series history to have race wins in each of the three professional truck classes.

Steve Federico, Wilmette, Ill., clinched the Kumho Tire Rookie of the Year award this weekend in his Ingles/Mountain Dew Toyota Tacoma. Federico finished third overall in Pro-Lite and clinched the rookie award over fellow Tacoma racer Chad Hord with two top-5 finishes at Topeka.

Toyota-powered Sportsman Super Buggy champion Scott Schwalbe finished a dominating season with his sixth victory on Saturday. It was his 11th win in 46 career starts.

The final two races of the 16-race CORR season from Topeka will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Nov. 4.
