Detroit - International Union, UAW and the General Motors Corporation (GM), as part of UAW-GM's on-going, national sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, announce "Wish-Match Holiday Campaign 2001."
GM Dealers who enroll in the 2nd annual campaign will pledge a donation of $25 for every new retail vehicle sold during the month of December. As part of the campaign, every dealer's donation will be matched by UAW-GM (up to $1 million) making more smiles and more wishes come true this holiday season.
Says Michael Grimaldi, Vice President and General Manager, Field Sales, Service and Parts North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, "Last holiday season's program raised nearly $1.7 million, which was distributed to Make-A-Wish chapters within the donating GM dealer's community for the benefit of local children served by the Foundation. I want to personally commend you for your hugely successful effort.
"In an endeavor to help more children," Grimaldi continues, "I hope you will again join UAW-GM and your fellow dealers in supporting this year's campaign. I have personally seen the joy on the faces of some of the many children whose lives have been enhanced by your generosity and there is nothing that better represents the spirit of the holiday season." As a result of the sponsorship, more than 355 wishes have been granted to children across the nation through the Make-A-Wish Foundation due to the generosity of UAW-GM, working together with GM dealers.
Dealers who wish to continue the tradition of "Making Smiles Standard Equipment" by enrolling in "Wish-Match Holiday Campaign 2001" should contact 877-947-4967 or visit www.wishworks.org.
Participating dealers enrolled by October 31 will be included in the campaign announcement ad to consumers. Final deadline for enrollment is November 9. Campaign advertising qualifies for GM's dealer co-op program.
Each dealer who enrolls will receive a "Wish-Match Holiday Campaign 2001" activation kit. Provided in the kit are ad templates and flexible customization options, including ideas for community relations.
