Beckford Avenue Elementary School Allies With Four Virginia Sisters Raising Money for American Red Cross With Community Car Wash To 'Help Wash Away the Hurt' WHO: Beckford Avenue Elementary School in Northridge will host Los Angeles' Wash America: Help Wash Away the Hurt event to raise funds for American Red Cross. (http://www.WashAmerica.org) Four sisters ages 10 to 16 -- Ashley, Aubrey, Alyssa and Alana Welch -- who launched the nationwide program raised $10,000 last weekend for the American Red Cross September 11 Fund for the relief effort following last week's tragedies. WHY: Too young to give blood but eager to provide positive, constructive support in the wake of the tragedies, the girls wanted to show that they -- and all children -- can make a difference. WHAT: Beckford Avenue Elementary School in Northridge will participate in Wash America: Help Wash Away the Hurt by hosting a car wash to raise money for the relief efforts. The American Red Cross has established an account specifically for this campaign. Please help us get the word out to Los Angeles area residents.
