FOR RELEASE: September 24, 2001GM Service Parts Operations Continues Support Of Whaley Children's Center
Flint - GM Service Parts Operations (SPO) continues its support of Whaley Children's Center programs by presenting the facility with a $1000 donation in Flint today. The donation is in connection with the "Creative Kids Contest" initiated in 1998 by SPO's advertising group. Over 30 drawing interpretations in line with the ad's theme, "Driving Down Memory Lane", were submitted by SPO employees and their children.
This year GM SPO also held a merchandise sale consisting of t-shirts, coffee mugs and mousepads with all proceeds going to Whaley. "Whaley Children's Center and GM SPO first partnered two years ago, and today we take pride in continuing that tradition," says Kelly O'Neill, GM Parts advertising manager. "We are excited about helping Whaley meet some of its program needs."
GM SPO's generosity has helped the non-profit facility provide services to children ages 6-12 who have social, emotional, ethical and academic needs. "The continued support from GM SPO has certainly enhanced our ability to provide the necessary program and services to our children," said Ernelle Taylor, Whaley's program enrichment administrator. "With SPO's donation, we are able to continue our focus of rebuilding the self-esteem and trust in these children through intensive psychological treatment."
