Agnew Hopes To Make It Two In A Row At Jennerstown
Jennerstown, PA- The last time the USAR Hooters ProCup Series visited the fast half-mile of Jennerstown Speedway, fans watched Jeff Agnew win the race, after leading only on the final lap to pick up the victory. What's going to be more exciting than that? Add 25 of the best drivers in the Northern Series, along with 25 of the best drivers in the Southern Series, and you have a combination to leave everyone breathless at the first of the four championship races to determine a national champion.
"I didn't even see the white flag wave," said Agnew, as he described the race back to the stripe for the win. "All I know is I battled hard with Brian Vickers, who raced me hard but clean, got the advantage coming off turn four, and won the race."
Agnew has had a good year; he picked up the win at Jennerstown Speedway in July and at Cayuga Speedway, when the Series made its first appearance across the border, leading him to third-place in the regular points season.
"Running these four championship races will really be no different to me than running a regular race. Except for about six or eight guys who have the potential to win during a Northern division race, you will have 20 guys who have the potential to win. During these races, everyone brings out their best equipment and puts everything on the line. The best car we own is not our fastest, but it is the one that we have won the races with, so that will be the car we will bring."
"Jennerstown Speedway is a fast, two, or sometimes three groove track, which is pretty much smooth, except for a bump entering turn three. During the race in July, (Brian) Vickers was running one line, I was running a total different line, and I didn't loose any ground on him."
Agnew has hopes to win every race, but feels Bobby Gill, the 1999 and 2000 Champion will be a strong contender. Agnew is no stranger to the USAR Hooters ProCup championship, picking up the title after an incredible year in 1998.
"I believe Bobby will be the one to beat in the points. Not only is he a good race car driver, but he works on his race cars in the shop, and some how seems to find the setup while the car is still at the shop, making the time that he spends at the track time to make minor changes to get the car perfect. I am looking forward to running these races."
The Charlie Campbell Memorial/Hooters 250 will honor the memory of the late Charlie Campbell, the pilot of the plane, carrying Mark Brooks, son of USAR and Hooters owner, Robert H. Brooks, Dan Duncan, director of sports marketing; and 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Alan Kulwicki. The plane crashed on April 1, 1993 in Bristol, TN.
Practice will begin at 11 a.m.; with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The green flag will fall for the running of the Charlie Campbell Memorial Hooters 250 at 7 p.m., with 50 laps of the local Jennerstown Late Models to follow.

Precision Metal Works and Kwik-Way Products team up with #83 Ruch Racing for Hooters ProCup Finale
Rush Enterprises looks to ride the momentum of a fifth place finish in the USAR Hooters ProCup event at Chemung Speedrome in Chemung, NY into the first of the Four Champions Championship Series events this weekend.
The #83 Rush Enterprises Chevrolet, driven by Lonnie Rush, Sr., site 11th in the Northern series year end points standings, only eight points out of 10th place. Along with this accomplishment the team is also excited to announce its re-association with Precision Metal Works (PMW) and Kiwk-Way Products Inc.
PMW is a leading manufacturer of parts washing and equipment and automotive lifts. The Company features a full line of automotive-related lifts including low rise, two-post, four-post and scissors type units. Their products are sold worldwide under as many as 12 different brand names.
Kwik-Way Products has been a leader of developing equipment to rebuild engines and repair brakes on vehicles for over 80 years. The true lasting power of these machines is evident in the thousands of 30-plus year old Kwik-Way Valve Refacers, Boring Bars and Seat Grinders that are still in use around the world today.
With established backing from these fine companies, Rush's racing operation has its sights set on a chunk of the $1 million dollars up for grabs as the North and South divisions collide in championship competition. The first stop on the schedule is Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, PA. The top 50 points finishers at the end of regular season events will go head-to-head to determine the overall season victor.
The tour will visit Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Concord, N.C. before wrapping up the season in Lakeland, Fl. Rush will add these racing highlights to his expansive knowledge of the sport as he and his team work to out-do this "rookie" season in the Hooters ProCup Northern Division in 2002.
