Monaco Coach Selects Lumigent High Availability Database Tool

    CONCORD, Mass.--Sept. 24, 2001--Lumigent Technologies, Inc., a developer of high-availability database tools for critical business platforms, today announced that Monaco Coach Corporation , one of the nation's largest manufacturers of recreational vehicles, has selected Lumigent's Log Explorer software to recover critical database information and increase the availability of data.
    Monaco Coach, which produces more than 10,000 vehicles each year, manufactures 28 models of luxury motorcoaches and several types of towable RVs, and sells them through more than 350 dealers in the US, UK, Germany, and Australia.
    Monaco's Help Desk allows the IT staff to provide rapid response to hardware and software needs and issues throughout the company, keeping employee productivity high. When the Help Desk database, about 1 gigabyte in size, disappeared one day, Monaco had to restore it quickly or face more than 100 daily calls without it.
    "It is absolutely essential that the IT department provide our employees with any information, anytime, anywhere, so that they can respond to customers," noted Kurt Sundling, Technical Operations Manager. "It was critical to get this database back quickly."
    Monaco turned to Lumigent Technologies, which offers Log Explorer(TM), the only database tool to make direct use of the Microsoft SQL Server transaction log to audit database activity without overhead, solve elusive application or user problems, quickly and selectively recover data online, and salvage data when traditional recovery techniques fail.
    Monaco's IT staff supports 1000 employees in facilities in Indiana and Oregon with a two-domain network of 40+ dual processor PCs, primarily Dell, running Microsoft software, including Windows 2000, SQL Server 7 and 2000, and Monaco's own ERP software that includes financials, service, inventory, production, and other corporate applications.
    When the staff discovered that the database tables were empty, Sundling moved quickly. He discovered that, although the tables were empty, the database log had never been truncated, so they had every single record.
    Lumigent's sales and technical staff worked with Sundling to get Log Explorer running quickly. After just a few hours working with Log Explorer, Monaco's Help Desk was running smoothly again. Log Explorer helped the 33-year-old RV manufacturer respond immediately to new queries and needs.
