Jeffrey H. Lester, Ryder System, Inc. Vice President, Elected to National Safety Council Board of Directors
ATLANTA -- The National Safety Council (NSC) announced today that Jeffrey H. Lester has been elected to the 32-person Board that governs the National Safety Council, managing fiduciary and strategic affairs. His term starts September 23 with the opening of the National Safety Council 89th Annual Congress & Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.
Lester is Vice President, Safety, Health & Security at Ryder System, Inc., based in Miami, Florida. He holds undergraduate degrees in Safety Engineering and Fire Safety from Fairmont State College, as well as a master's degree in Safety Management from West Virginia University. Lester came to Ryder in 1993 from Federal Express where he was a Region Safety and Health Manager. He has accumulated 14 years of comprehensive employee and transportation safety experience.
Lester has served in the Transportation Division of the National Safety Council. He will serve on the NSC Board as a Member at Large. He also serves on the Safety and Engineering Committee of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the Advisory Board of PureSafety.com.

The National Safety Council (NSC) is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental, international public service organizations dedicated to protecting life and promoting health. NSC's 37,500-plus member locations include businesses, labor organizations, schools, public agencies, private groups and individuals. Founded in 1913, NSC's scope has expanded to include highway, community and recreational safety, as well as occupational and environmental health. The NSC estimates that 4.2 million lives have been saved through improved safety practices since the Council was established.
