September 20, 2001Keller will be donating $10 per lap he runs and $25 for every lap he leads this weekend at Dover Downs to the American Red Cross. If Keller completes the race, he will be donating anywhere from $2,000 - $5,000. ppc Racing has agreed to match the amount that Keller donates to the American Red Cross.
"This is the time when we as a nation need to pull together," said Keller. "Those of us who have the ability to help out, need to do so. The American Red Cross has been instrumental in this country for over a century and this is my opportunity to support their hard work."
The Albertson's Family, including Albertson's, Jewel, Acme, Seessel's, Sav-On Drug, and Osco Drug, and the American Red Cross have also joined forces to support disaster relief efforts. The joint effort includes an in-store fundraising program as well as hosting blood drives in the coming weeks. The fundraising program will run for a minimum of four weeks. Albertson's has agreed to match up to $50,000 in donations.
Jason Keller Notes:
Keller gained 42 points on Kevin Harvick at Richmond two weeks ago. He now sits 274 points out of first place. Keller also increased the distance between himself and third-place driver Jeff Green to 103 points. Dover Downs is Keller's favorite track on the NASCAR Busch Series circuit. Keller has accumulated one win, one pole and seven top-10 finishes at the concrete track. He finished second in the 2000 fall race at the Monster Mile.
Jason Keller Quotes:
Seeking Redemption... Keller and the Albertson's team finished 13th in the June race at Dover Downs International Speedway. Keller has become accustomed to finishing in the top 10 at concrete tracks and was disappointed with his finish.
"When I travel to tracks like Dover I expect to finish in the top five," said Keller. "I am extremely comfortable at that track. I know what the car needs to feel like to put it in victory lane and can usually tell the team what I need. But the weather during the spring race was something that we were unprepared for. We missed the initial set-up because we never got to practice in race trim. This team is very smart and I can assure you we will not make that mistake twice, especially at Dover.
"I look forward to racing every weekend, but I'm really looking forward to Dover. I still have the taste in my mouth from my victory there in 2000. Even now it remains my favorite trip to victory lane. We finished second in the fall race last year, and I'm looking to take that finish one step further to victory lane."
