Grand-Am Joins HSR at Daytona for The Brumos Continental Historics
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 19, 2001) -- Grand American Road Racing Association President Roger Edmondson announced today that the Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series will join Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) at Daytona International Speedway for an exciting weekend of racing in the Manheim's Daytona Auto Auction Presents The Brumos Continental Historics, Nov. 1-3.
The Rolex Series and Grand-Am Cup will practice on Thursday, Nov. 1, in both the afternoon and evening, with both series returning to the track on Friday, Nov. 2, for additional practice sessions before the four-hour Grand-Am Cup race under the lights. The Rolex Series will also run into the evening on Saturday, Nov. 3, in a three-hour race.
There will be no qualifying held for the two races. Both will be gridded by the current point standings in accordance to the Grand-Am Rule Book.
Both the Rolex Series and Grand-Am Cup races will offer race fans a visually exciting show as the race cars' headlights dart through the infield onto the banked oval under the glow of the Speedway's lights.
A complete event schedule for the Manheim's Daytona Auto Auction Presents The Brumos Continental Historics including the Rolex Series and Grand-Am Cup practice and race times will be available on Thursday, Sept. 20.
