SONOMA, Calif. - Sears Point Raceway has selected the Cordova Marketing Group to assist with efforts to secure a facility entitlement partner, raceway officials have announced.

The Cordova Marketing Group (CMG) is based in Orlando, Fla., and headed by former Oakland A's and Houston Rockets broadcast and marketing executive, Tom Cordova. CMG will assist Sears Point management in forging a strategic corporate alliance that will include the naming rights to the raceway facilities.

This announcement comes at an exciting time as Sears Point Raceway embarks on the second phase of a $35 million Modernization Plan that will transform the raceway into one of the premier motorsports and entertainment venues in the world. Some of the plans include sponsorable fan venues, pedestrian tunnels, repaved road course and drag strip surfaces and the construction of scenic hillside terrace seats.

CMG has been retained to help match the raceway's strategic plans with those of a long-term sponsorship partner. The facility naming rights would be the cornerstone of a multi-faceted marketing and promotional relationship tied to the raceway's wide variety of events, facilities and users.

"This kind of sponsorship, if the fit is right and the relationship is properly structured, can offer a myriad of positive opportunities for both parties. I have worked with Tom Cordova for more than 20 years and I know his firm brings the kind of thorough and creative approach it takes to make a deal like this happen," said Steve Page, president and general manager at Sears Point.

Cordova Marketing Group is a nationwide consulting practice primarily focusing on the areas of sports, entertainment and Hispanic marketing. A Hispanic-owned NSMDC certified company, CMG's areas of expertise include Broadcasting, Sponsorship, Marketing Strategy and Concept Creation. Past clients of CMG include the Arizona Cardinals, International Sports Marketing, the Tampa Electric Company and PyroSpectaculars.

"CMG has a long and successful track record of starting-up and modernizing sports and entertainment properties. Our creative approach - some refer to us as a practical idea factory - combined with the enthusiasm of the entire Sears Point team, gives us an opportunity to accomplish something truly extraordinary," said Tom Cordova, president of Cordova Marketing Group.
