Suppliers Strengthen Profitability With QAD Supply Visualization Software

    CARPINTERIA, Calif.--Sept. 18, 2001--

QAD Helps GHSP, Fastco Industries and Pontiac Coil Benefit from Real-Time Collaboration

QAD , a leading provider of collaborative commerce applications for global manufacturing enterprises and their private exchanges, today announced that manufacturers and their suppliers using QAD Supply Visualization, an Order Visibility Exchange (OVE) application, are quickly boosting profits by reducing operating and inventory costs through real-time collaboration.
GHSP, a manufacturer of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies for automakers such as Daimler-Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota, recently started using QAD Supply Visualization at its Grand Haven, Mich., headquarters to manage over 50 percent of its inventory purchased from suppliers. GHSP employed the solution over other alternatives.
"QAD Supply Visualization began delivering results for us in a matter of days, and our suppliers have eagerly adopted it to improve their service," according to Jeffrey McCauley, manager of IS for GHSP. "When we started to look at vendor managed inventory solutions, we wanted something that was inexpensive, would integrate with our ERP system, would implement quickly, pass little to no fees to our suppliers and support our ongoing lean manufacturing initiatives. QAD Supply Visualization quickly set itself apart from other OVE solutions, as well as EDI, which are much more expensive and push back costs to suppliers."
Accessed via the QAD MFGx.net manufacturing exchange, QAD Supply Visualization (SV) is an easy-to-install hosted application that delivers real-time visibility of inventory levels and requirements.
It enables manufacturers using QAD applications to quickly and cost-effectively collaborate with their suppliers to reduce inventory costs and requirements across the supply chain. Product shortages and associated expediting and production costs can also be avoided with the solution.
Fastco Industries Inc., based in Grand Rapids, Mich., supplies pins, screws and other fasteners to GHSP. "QAD SV has significantly reduced our need to expedite part orders to GHSP," said Jane Fuller, distribution manager at Fastco. "It shows us exactly what our customers need now and down the road, enabling us to ship parts when they need them. We currently use similar software from another company and I would say that QAD SV is much easier. It tells you what you need to know. I would highly recommend SV to our other customers."
Pontiac Coil, based in Clarkston, Mich., makes Brake Transmission Shift Interlocks (BTSI) for GHSP. "GHSP provides me with the most up-to-date information through the system, telling me what they need and when," said Shanna Wolfe, shipping supervisor at Pontiac Coil. "I don't want to over-ship or under-ship, and with QAD SV I always have the necessary information right in front of me."
To begin benefiting from QAD SV immediately, manufacturers can simply visit QAD's manufacturing exchange at http://www.mfgx.net and complete a short subscription form.
