Ricardo, Inc. Releases Version 3.6 of its Highly Successful WAVE Software

BELLEVILLE, Mich., Sept. 17 Ricardo, Inc. has released
version 3.6 of its WAVE software.
Ricardo's WAVE software simulates engine performance, combustion and
emissions, acoustic characteristics, thermal and warm-up analysis, controls,
engine/drive-line/ECU co-simulation and 1D/3D co-simulation.
The new version improves the physical models by expanding on the
combustion and emissions predictions and adding a new vehicle model.
Addressing the industry's need to find ways of reducing emissions and fuel
consumption, the new combustion models have the ability to continuously
predict knock and transient engine-out NOx, CO and HC emissions. Users also
can program their own external combustion models for further accuracy.
Pollutants and chemical species can be sampled in real time for use in
electronic Engine Control Units.
The new vehicle and driveline model allows predictions of, among other
things, vehicle acceleration, top speed and vehicle transient emissions.
New and intuitive Graphical User Interfaces and a Computer Based Training part
of the WAVE Knowledge Center make it easy for users to learn how to operate
the software, therefore reducing the cost of operating this sophisticated
simulation tool.
The new version is available on all major UNIX and PC platforms including
LINUX and Windows NT, 2000, Millennium, 95 and 98.
"We believe users will find the new version of WAVE easier to use, more
powerful and more flexible, allowing them to perform an ever-increasing number
of applications to solve today's engine and vehicle engineering problems,"
said Dr. Richard Johns, president of Ricardo Software.
