Michelin Donates Tires and On-Site Support To NYC Rescue and Recovery

Company Commits 24-Hour Support and Up to $250,000 In
Tires to Keep Emergency Vehicles Working

GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 13 Michelin North America, Inc.
announced today that it is donating round-the-clock, on-site service and up to
$250,000 in tires for emergency vehicles of all types involved in the "ground
zero" recovery efforts on-going in lower Manhattan. The donation was
communicated this morning to the Office of New York City Mayor Rudolph
Giuliani and to the Commissioner of Support Services, who is heading up the
operation.

"It is simply the right thing to do," said MNA Chairman and President Jim
Micali. "Michelin North America is committed to providing the emergency crews
working in the Manhattan crisis area the full resources and expertise of our
company."

    Specifically, Michelin's donation will involve:

    * An On-Site Service Truck in the "ground zero" area 24 hours a day, 7
days a week. The truck will service all emergency vehicles involved in
      the recovery efforts.

    * Up to $250,000 in Michelin tires to any emergency vehicle in the crisis
area as necessary to maintain the operation of the vehicle.

    * An On-Site Michelin Technical Expert continuously available to assist in
any tire or mobility related issues to insure the continuous operation
      of all vehicles.

    * If Michelin makes a tire for the vehicle, it will be included in the
relief effort. Michelin expects to service and provide tires for heavy-
construction and earthmover equipment as well as fire engines,
ambulances, police cars and a variety of other support vehicles.

Rescuers are facing significant mobility challenges as trucks and
equipment move over a variety of debris. Maintaining tires and securing
mobility will be crucial to moving the operation efforts forward as quickly as
possible. "As a leading manufacturer for vehicles of all types from bicycles
to the world's largest mining and earthmoving equipment, Michelin is uniquely
qualified to assist the mobility of the rescue efforts and is committed to
doing so," said Micali.

Earlier today, the Michelin Group announced its contribution of $1 million
to assist the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The "Michelin Relief
Fund" has been opened to all 128,000 Michelin employees worldwide who wish to
make additional donations.
