FAIRFIELD, N.J. (September 12, 2001)-The U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speedvision is deeply saddened by the events in New York City and Washington D.C. on Tuesday, but has announced that the season-finale at Daytona International Speedway will take place.

The race weekend, which was originally scheduled to begin with testing on Wednesday, will now begin on Thursday with testing, after all Wednesday activities were cancelled. The season-finale races will be run Saturday and Sunday as scheduled. In addition, the season-ending awards banquet will take place Sunday night at Walt Disney World.

"We cannot express the sense of loss and sadness from this national tragedy," said Jon Baytos, owner of the U.S. F2000 National Championship. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. After discussions with Daytona International Speedway and the Grand American Road Racing Association, we have decided to run the season-finale with some minor scheduling changes.”
