FRANKFURT, Germany, Sept. 12 In its first year as an independent company, Visteon Corporation has continued the rapid pace set at its launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1997. The resulting success has come through global business wins driven by the development and introduction of new, innovative systems. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) "It's been a year since Visteon became an independent, publicly traded company -- June 29, 2000 to June 29, 2001. We've turned in a solid operating performance in a tough environment and exceeded our projections. As matter of fact, our corporate performance exceeded first-year financial goals at every turn," said Peter J. Pestillo, Visteon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We now have a new customer-facing organization and our European customers will see the benefits of this change moving forward." In 2000, Visteon saw a 45 percent growth in earnings; booked more than $2.6 billion in new business, with 37 percent being non-Ford business; reduced costs by nearly $600 million and improved quality by 63 percent. Additionally, Visteon returned nearly 40 percent to its shareholders in the first year. In the first six months of 2001, Visteon secured more than $1.2 billion of new business. The corporation continues to expand its customer base with non- Ford business. By the close of the first half of 2001, new business already had exceeded the total non-Ford business from the previous year. These new business wins cover a wide range of products that improve fuel economy, safety and provide increased personalization. Visteon's new customer-facing organization combined with engineering expertise strengthens the corporation's ability to leverage differentiating technology and integrated systems solutions in Europe. Today, Visteon is a strong European competitor in terms of cockpits, climate control, electronics and multimedia products. Visteon is a global supplier serving 19 automakers with products on vehicles in nearly every region of the world. The growing global customer base reinforces the company's commitment to customer support. * In Europe, Visteon secured additional business with Fiat Auto for multimedia systems, instrument clusters and electronic systems in a future passenger car program. * In South America, Visteon supplies PSA Peugeot-Citroen with instrument panels for the Peugeot 206 in the Argentinean and Brazilian markets. Additionally, the Citroen Xsara Picasso, recently launched in Brazil, will carry Visteon instrument panels and center consoles. In addition, Visteon's first-year of product delivery and technology innovations include: * Teaming up with General Motors to launch the automotive industry's first factory-installed Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) Rear Seat Entertainment system. The innovative system, which allows passengers in the rear seat to be entertained while drivers remain focused on the road, is available on the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada mid-sized SUVs. * Announcing it would supply Nissan with full cockpit and front-end modules and provide climate control systems integration for future truck platforms. Visteon will supply and integrate the complex components included in the cockpit module to ensure the highest quality, while helping to reduce weight and cost. * Securing a contract with General Motors to deliver the auto industry's first integrated, in-vehicle Bluetooth(TM) technology. Once again, Visteon proves its integration and engineering expertise by demonstrating its Bluetooth(TM)-enabled, multimedia head unit for an undisclosed future vehicle platform. The system will provide wireless connectivity to information contained in the vehicle's cell phones, and Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) with Visteon Voice Technology(TM) serving as the human-machine interface. * Unveiling a Slip-in-Tube Driveshaft -- another innovation that illustrates leadership in new product concept, design, development and engineering. This first-of-its-kind technology can help reduce weight and noise and increase vehicle safety, and will be found on a future light-duty vehicle platform. Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon has about 80,000 employees and a global delivery system of more than 130 technical, manufacturing, sales and service facilities located in 25 countries.
