Staab-led XR650R team takes Glen Helen 24-hour race

When the dust cleared Sunday, September 9 at the 3rd Annual 24-Hour endurance
race held at Glen Helen Raceway, in San Bernardino CA, it was all red...Honda
Red!

The IMS-sponsored Honda XR650R ridden by a four man team of Tim Staab, Steve
Hengeveld, Joe Hengeveld and ex-professional motocross racer Mike Healey crossed
the finish-line in first place after completing 65 grueling laps around the Glen
Helen racecourse.

The four riders dominated the competition by a large margin. How dominant were
they? The 2nd place team riding a Yamaha completed 63 laps on the racecourse.
They bested the 3rd place team who only completed 62 laps.

Tim Staab, teammate of Honda Racing's Johnny Campbell, views the event as basic
training for the upcoming 2001 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in November. Together,
Campbell and Staab have won two Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 titles in a row and have
no intentions of resting on their laurels.
