AMETEK Demonstrates Web-Based Capability of Its Thermox Smart
Sensors
PAOLI, Pa., Sept. 10 AMETEK, Inc. conducted a
live Web-based demonstration of the remote servicing and maintenance
capabilities of its Thermox(R) Smart Sensor and Series 2000 products at the
ISA 2001 Show in Houston, Texas. The real-time demo linked AMETEK's booth at
ISA 2001 with Thermox Series 2000-based analyzers and IQ sensors at several
remote locations.
"With our new Thermox Remote Service (RS) 247, AMETEK can monitor and
maintain all of its Thermox Smart Sensor and Series 2000 products via the
Internet or Ethernet. It allows us to remotely determine when service is
required, parts need to be replaced, or hardware needs to be upgraded. This
ability frees up plant personnel to focus on other plant operations," comments
Timothy N. Jones, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Process &
Analytical Instruments.
"As factories and processing plants move increasingly to PC-based and open
control systems, plant operators are looking for alternative methods for
monitoring and maintaining their instruments, while continuing to ensure
instrument and process reliability," he adds.
The Thermox Smart Sensor and Series 2000 product lines include oxygen
analyzers for flue gas and industrial gas applications, combustion analyzers
for measuring oxygen and combustibles, carbon monoxide monitors, and premix
air/gas analyzers. AMETEK expects to eventually upgrade all of its process
analyzers for this remote servicing capability.
In addition to Thermox sensors and analyzers, AMETEK manufactures
non-combustion analyzers including trace oxygen and moisture analyzers,
photometric analyzers, and Dycor mass spectrometers.
