Solid Edge Develops Professional Certification Program for Its Customers

Solid Edge Develops Professional Certification Program for Its Customers

Individuals and Companies Benefit by Measuring Design Proficiency

CYPRESS, Calif., Sept. 10 UGS today announces
the Solid Edge Certified Professional program to allow engineers and other
technical professionals to measure their proficiency in the use of Solid Edge,
the industry's most productive mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) software
system available. The program launches this year in the United States.
Expansion to other countries will be announced later.
The Solid Edge Certified Professional program's comprehensive,
standardized test measures a wide range of user modeling skills and general
Solid Edge knowledge. The program benefits both the professional and the
company.
For professionals, certification means that their skills and abilities in
Solid Edge are documented and proven with a standardized test. It increases
the professional's value to a company by providing an assessment tool to help
uncover and improve areas of Solid Edge where skills and abilities may be
lacking. For companies, it provides a manner in which qualified and competent
Solid Edge users can be put into appropriate positions to maximize proficiency
and productivity. It also aids the employer in recruiting potential employees
by certifying their current abilities and knowledge in Solid Edge.
"The Solid Edge certification is a great measurement tool," says Alastair
Henderson, chairman of the Solid Edge User Group and CAD manager at Chicago-
based S&C Electric Company. "It enables us to recognize our expert users as
well as identify potential usability and training issues we may need to
address. It helps us develop a comprehensive training program and fine-tune
it based on the outcome of the certification results.
"All of the users I interact with already consider Solid Edge to be the
easiest CAD system to use, learn and retain," says Henderson. "What this
certification program adds to that is an understanding of how well individuals
and companies apply this powerful software tool to leverage their own
mechanical engineering knowledge and skills."
The Solid Edge certification test includes a written section as well as
two hands-on modeling sections. For more details regarding the Solid Edge
Certified Professional program, see

Solid Edge Certified Professional testing is available for the first time
to attendees of the Fourth Annual Solid Edge Global Summit the week of
September 24 in Atlanta. See http://www.solid-edge.com/se-ug/default.htm to
register for the test or for details on the summit. The fee for participation
in the certification program is $495 (USD). Attendees to the Solid Edge
Global Summit receive a one-time discounted rate of $195 (USD). Additional
testing dates and locations will be posted later to
