Park Place Racing/Fordahl Motorsports Announce Entry for Petit Le Mans
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BELLEVUE, Wash, (September 7, 2001) - Park Place Racing/Fordahl Motorsports officially announced today that it will enter the Park Place Racing/Fordahl Motorsports/Yokohama/Gatorz Eyewear-sponsored Saleen S7 in this year's running of the Audi Petit Le Mans at the Road Atlanta Motor Sports Center in early October.
Park Place driver, Chris Bingham competed the majority of the 1999 ALMS season with Hybrid Racing in a Ford/Riley and Scott prototype, but has never competed at the Petit Le Mans.
"I am really looking forward to returning to the ALMS," Bingham said. "Petit is one of the biggest, premier road races and I am excited to be a part of it."
Although this will be Bingham's first Petit race, he tested with Panoz Racing in 1998 at Road Atlanta and will have several familiar surroundings this time around.
He will be aboard the car that he has won 6 out of 8 races and captured 7 out of 8 poles with in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. His outstanding run in that series has put him atop the remainder of the GTS field for the 2001 driver championship.
Another familiarity will be one of Bingham's co-drivers. Although the third driver is yet to be announced, Bingham will team with his current Grand-Am co-driver, Ron Johnson.
"Ron and I are a great team," Bingham said. "We've had great success in the Saleen together in the Grand-Am series, and I think we will carry that over to ALMS."
The Audi Petit Le Mans will be held October 6, beginning at 12:00 noon EDT. For more information on the event, please visit www.americanlemans.com and for more information on Park Place Racing, visit www.parkplaceltd.com.
