September 8, 2001BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We picked it up just a little bit right there before the end of practice and got up to eighth. The guys did a good job. I wish we could have gotten a little more grip out of the car, but I guess it was fast enough to not worry about that for a couple laps.
"I thought I was a little bit too loose to go fast. It wasn't as comfortable as I'd like for it to be, but it was also faster than I thought it was going to be, so I'm not going to complain about it. It just didn't feel like I had much grip on it, but I guess it rolled the center just right."
(ON STARTING UP FRONT, RUNNING FOR $1 MILLION) "It's just good to start up front no matter where you're at. We've got a good starting spot and hopefully it will lead to good things for the weekend."
