"This is a tremendous achievement for Ford Lio Ho," said Ford Lio Ho President John Parker upon accepting the award in Hong Kong on Sept. 5. "It is great for the Ford brand image and we will continue to build our image with this award. We take good care of our employees recognizing that a happy employee is a productive employee, contributing toward producing quality products and services for our consumers. We are all the people building a better Ford Lio Ho." More than 92,000 employees and 355 companies took part in this year's survey, which was conducted in partnership with Hewitt Associates, the Asian Wall Street Journal and the Far Eastern Economic Review, and also supported in Taiwan by CHEERS Magazine. Both local and international companies were invited to participate in the survey. Eligibility criteria required that a company be at least two years old and have at least 100 employees. It seeks to provide insights into how companies can achieve a real competitive advantage through people. The purpose of the study is to explore what makes companies good to work for, and to identify a short list of Best Employers in Asia. The survey was conducted in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, over five months. In 1988, Ford Lio Ho captured car sales leadership in Taiwan for the first time and retained the title for six consecutive years. It did so while new car demand was growing faster in Taiwan than in any other established automotive market. Between 1986 and 1989, the car industry in Taiwan nearly tripled in size. The market peaked in 1994 with overall sales of nearly 600,000 vehicles.
