Audi of America Sponsors the 2001 Canada's Cup
DETROIT, Sept. 6 Audi of America, Inc. is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Canada's Cup. This exciting regatta is one of the oldest sailing competitions in the country, with the first match race series held in 1896. This will be the 19th renewal of the International Match Race Series for the Canada's Cup between the United States and Canada. A team from Detroit's Bayview Yacht Club will compete against a team from Toronto's Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Farr 40(R) One Design boats. This year's event begins September 8, and races will occur on Lake St. Clair. Two windward-leeward races, about 10 miles in length each, are planned each day, weather permitting.
