American Axle & Manufacturing Opens Stabilizer Systems Development Center

American Axle & Manufacturing Opens Stabilizer Systems Development Center

DETROIT, Sept. 6 American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings,
Inc. (AAM), which is traded as AXL on the NYSE, today announced the opening of
its new Stabilizer Systems Development Center at the Detroit Forge in the AAM
Headquarters Complex in Detroit, Mich.
The 2,900-square-foot facility can quickly produce art-to-part prototype
components from numerous formats of computer aided design (CAD) files. In
addition, engineers at the Development Center use CAD to modify stabilizer
system designs to meet the customer's new requirements.
The AAM associates at the Stabilizer Systems Development Center and AAM's
Technical Center in Rochester Hills, Mich., collaborate throughout the entire
stabilizer bar system development process. Technical Center engineers can
provide the Development Center associates with pre-validation analysis even
before the art-to-part development phase is complete, as well as post-
validation production feedback.
The Development Center provides proven technology in-house, in a
controlled environment, designed for precise part and process analysis. The
center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to completely process any
stabilizer system product requirement.
"The Center offers our customers quick and agile prototype stabilizer bar
systems backed by world-class engineering and production expertise," said Ron
Allman, vice president, Manufacturing - Forging Division. "In addition to
'hard-part' prototypes, we also develop the production processes and offer
world-leading high-volume manufacturing capacity for the stabilizer bar
systems once the design is validated and ready for commercial production."
AAM is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, design and
validation of driveline systems and related components and modules, chassis
systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and
passenger cars. In addition to its 14 locations in the United States (in
Michigan, New York and Ohio), AAM also has offices and facilities in Brazil,
England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Scotland.
