September 7, 2001SALINAS, Calif. - Darren Law will be aboard the American Viper Racing Dodge Viper GTS-R in the Grand Sport Touring (GTS) class at this weekend's Monterey Sports Car Championship at Laguna Seca.
Law will again be teaming up with Shane Lewis, who he drove with in the 2000 American Le Mans season. The duo will maneuver the #45 Viper around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca road racing course.
"This is a great opportunity to run in the GTS class in the ALMS series," Law said. "I am exited to get back to Laguna Seca and looking forward to working with the American Viper Racing team."
This will be Law's first time competing in a Viper and he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in a different car.
"Although the car hasn't been quite as competitive as the factory Corvettes and Saleens, the team has made some great upgrades to the car," Law said. "I think we can give it a real competitive run."
The Monterey Sports Car Championship can be seen live Sunday September 6, beginning at 4 p.m. EDT.
