The Texas Workforce Commission Names Budget Rent a Car Employer of Excellence For Two Consecutive Years

   Award Acknowledges Budget's Contribution to the Local Community Through
                Special Training and Welfare-to-Work Programs

    LISLE, Ill., Sept. 6 For the second year in a row, the
Texas Workforce Commission, a state agency specializing in workforce
development services, honored Budget Rent a Car Corporation with an Employer
of Excellence Award at its Fifth Annual State Conference in Houston today.
Budget's Wichita Falls Reservation Center was recognized for its active
participation in community programs that provide on-the-job training, and a
means for welfare residents to find permanent employment.
    Budget opened its Wichita Falls Reservation Center in January 2000.
Currently, more than 300 reservation agents and support personnel work at the
center, 60 percent of which were hired through the Texas Workforce Commission.
The Wichita Falls Reservation Center processes more than five million calls
per year.
    "We choose candidates based on their contribution to business, workers and
the community as a whole," said Charles Moore, manager of the North Texas
Workforce Center.  "Budget continues to have a positive impact on all the
above - providing opportunities for people to secure quality jobs and get back
on their feet."
    In 2000, more than 440,000 businesses operated in the state of Texas,
according to the Labor Market Information Department at the Texas Workforce
Commission.  Budget was one of a select group that was acknowledged by the
Texas Workforce Commission and the only car rental company to win the Employer
of Excellence award in the state this year.
    "Budget is committed to the communities of north Texas and we will keep
doing our part in helping residents find successful career paths," said Steve
Giesbrecht, site director for Budget's Wichita Falls Reservation Center.
"Working with the Texas Workforce Commission has been a rewarding experience
for us.  We are honored to be recognized again this year."
