Bayside Automation Awarded Assembly System Contract with Hanwha

CANONSBURG, Pa.--Sept. 6, 2001--Bayside Automation, a leading supplier of automated assembly systems and manufacturing product/process consulting services, today was awarded a major contract to provide a manufacturing system to produce airbag inflators for Hanwha, a large South Korean corporation and licensee of TRW, Inc.
Hanwha will manufacture airbag inflators for the Korean automotive market. The inflators are considered 'next generation' devices because they provide enhanced passenger safety during deployment. This device will also offer dual stage fire protection for smaller versus larger adults drivers.
"We are very pleased to secure this contract with Hanwha," says Bill McDougall, Bayside Automation President and CEO. "We have established a strong relationship with TRW by successfully delivering similar manufacturing systems. This opportunity highlights the growth that can be realized through the skilled execution of projects that allow our clients, like TRW, to be more competitive."
Bayside Automation will design, build, and install a semi-automated manufacturing line for the production of inflators. The system will include the assembly and test operations for these devices and the integration of specialized process equipment from outside sources. Bayside will also provide a Level 2 traceability system required for devices of this nature. The system will be installed in Korea in April 2002.
"We consider this contract as establishing a partnership with Bayside Automation to help us manufacture the state of the art products our customers require," adds, Mr. S.J. Rhee, Hanwha's President. "We are confident that our collaborative efforts will allow Hanwha to successfully expand our business in automotive inflators."
A contract signing ceremony takes place today at 11:00 am EST at Bayside Automation. For pictures of the session, go to www.baysideautomation.com/Pages/hanwha.htm.
