go2 Systems, Inc. and Sensoria Corporation to Develop Prototype For Telematics Applications
Combines Sensoria Telematics Environment and Location-Based Information LA JOLLA, Calif., Sept. 6 Sensoria Corporation announced today at DEMOmobile 2001 that it has entered into an agreement with go2 Systems, Inc. to develop a prototype to apply location-based directory and information services to in-vehicle devices utilizing the Sensoria Telematics Environment. The Sensoria Telematics Environment is a new standards-based telematics platform that delivers advanced services such as go2's geocoded directory listings, allowing users to locate relevant businesses and products quicker and easier than existing addressing systems. Under the agreement, the platform will enable go2's wirelessly delivered business location data to be delivered to any Sensoria-equipped automobile or similar in-vehicle application environment. By integrating GPS information from Sensoria's platform, go2 will use its patented location referencing technology to provide location-based information for millions of real-world locations in the U.S. Vice President of Marketing for Sensoria Brian Davis commented, "go2's extensive database provides an efficient way to bring consumers and businesses together. This is a logical onboard service that will integrate into the vehicle environment for increased driver and passenger convenience." Vice President of Marketing for go2 Ed De Ferrante said this partnership leverages go2's application suite nicely. De Ferrante elaborated, "go2 provides an independent platform that will retrieve information for mobile consumers who are searching for nearby retailers and other real-world destinations. Using Sensoria's Telematics Environment, we can incorporate localized information from the Internet and make it available to consumers through a Web-enabled system, such as Sensoria's gateway." The Sensoria Telematics Environment is a standards-based platform for delivering next-generation telematics services over conventional cellular, Bluetooth and wireless LAN connections. It enables telematics service providers to quickly and easily deploy new voice and data applications remotely to in-vehicle information systems. It consists of three components: the Telematics Communication Server, the Telematics Client Platform software, and the mGate Modular Vehicle Gateway. Sensoria has simplified the complexities of wireless and proprietary vehicle interfaces into a common set of APIs and Web-based interfaces to support third-party software development for the Sensoria Telematics Environment.
