Sensoria Partners with Hitachi Semiconductor (America) For Advanced Telematics Solutions
Driving the Next-Generation of In-Vehicle Computing Services SAN DIEGO, Calif., Sept. 6 Sensoria Corporation, a leader in wireless and wire-line connectivity solutions, today announced that it is partnering with Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductor devices and a leading provider for automotive semiconductor solutions, for next-generation in-vehicle information systems. The first product resulting from this partnership is Sensoria's mGate Modular Vehicle Gateway, an important component of the Sensoria Telematics Environment for telematics applications being introduced today at the DEMOmobile 2001 in La Jolla, CA. The mGate platform is based on the Hitachi advanced automotive semiconductor solution. The mGate works in conjunction with the Sensoria Telematics Server Suite and Telematics Client Platform software to form an end-to-end solution for wirelessly supporting complex telematics applications into vehicles. These system components work together to safely and seamlessly control access to vehicle systems, interface with multiple wireless networks, and provide the application resources to support advanced telematics services in the vehicle. "The combination of Hitachi's advanced technology and commitment to the automotive market was unique as we explored various choices for technology partners. Hitachi has helped us develop an advanced mobile computing platform ready for automotive deployment that is at the center of computing, networking, telecommunications and wireless communication convergence," explains Brian Davis, Sensoria's vice president of marketing. "Combining Sensoria's innovative approach to the telematics space and Hitachi's advanced automotive solutions with proven reliability and scalability will reconcile automotive makers long product cycles with the shorter product cycles of the mobile computing and wireless industries," said Sami Nassar, director of strategic marketing at Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc. Hitachi microcontrollers have been used in automotive applications ever since embedded control system electronics were first introduced. Hitachi's SH-4 processor is at the center of the Hitachi automotive system solution and the mGate Modular Vehicle Gateway. The SH-4 family of the SuperH(R) RISC architecture, the SH7751 delivers high processing power across the automotive temperature range, 300 MIPS at 167 Megahertz (MHz), while maintaining power efficiency and cost effectiveness. The Hitachi technology roadmap into the future will enable Sensoria to grow its capabilities and applications timely and cost effectively with the rising demand for in-vehicle computing services. * SuperH is a. registered trademark of Hitachi, Ltd. in U.S. About Sensoria Corporation Sensoria Corporation is a leader in wireless and wire-line connectivity solutions that network the systems embedded in vehicles, homes and industry with the Internet.
