Fujitsu Microelectronics Exhibits Microcontrollers for Computer Peripherals, Communications, Automotive Designs at Embedded Systems Conference

    SAN JOSE, Calif.--Sept. 5, 2001--

New MCUs Incorporate CAN, On-Chip Flash for Easy Reprogramming

Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc. (FMI), an industry leader in microcontrollers for a wide range of embedded applications, is exhibiting its newest 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontroller technology at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston Sept. 5-7.
Designed for industrial control, communications, consumer peripheral and automotive applications, Fujitsu's MCUs offer many on-chip peripherals in a broad selection of packaging options. They will be shown in booth 1309 in the Hynes Convention Center.
"Our focus is on providing a large selection of products with high levels of integration, appropriate to the customer's specific design," said Sardar Haddad, director of marketing for FMI's Embedded Processor Group. "We also provide very flexible memory options, including flash, mask ROM and OTP, for established and emerging applications in the fastest-growing markets."
Fujitsu's MCUs support various consumer applications, including Global Positioning Systems (GPS), handheld devices, digital cameras, digital TVs, PDAs and DVDs. In the growing communications sector, Fujitsu MCUs are now found in cellular phones, pagers, cordless phones, satellite receivers, set-top boxes and modems.
Fujitsu's low-end and mid-range F2MC MCUs are also designed into PC peripherals such as printers, keyboards, video-conferencing systems, scanners and storage sub-systems. In the industrial-control market, these microcontrollers are in proximity sensors, production line checkers, barcode scanners and security systems that require the flexibility to reprogram the microcontroller.
For the automotive sector, Fujitsu provides 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers with a Controller Area Network (CAN) interface, flash memory, A/D converter and stepper motor control. These peripherals make the MCUs ideal for dashboard instrument panels, remote keyless entry, GPS navigation, door locks, window controls, interior lighting, air-conditioning and stereo systems.
Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc. (FMI) designs, manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of semiconductors and electronic products. For more information, please call 800/866-8608 or visit the Web site at http://www.fujitsumicro.com/mcu/mcuMain01.asp.
