Monroe Radio Ad Wins Top Honor
Tenneco Automotive's 'Buy Three, Get One Free' Radio Ad Wins an ADDY(R) MONROE, Mich., Sept. 5 A radio ad for Tenneco Automotive's Monroe Reflex and Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks won Best of Show honors from the American Advertising Federation at its annual ADDY Awards, held this summer in Cleveland, Ohio. The award-winning radio ad promoted the fall 2000 Monroe "Buy Three, Get One Free" offer. Using humor, it made a connection with potential shock buyers by referencing the ever-present potholes that dot many roads and highways. The ad linked the overpopulation of potholes to the Monroe offer by creating a fake promotion from an anonymous highway department: "When you hit three potholes, the fourth one's on us." "The ADDY award for the Monroe 'Buy Three, Get One Free' promotion is a great honor," says Harvey Diedrich, vice president of marketing/North American Aftermarket for Tenneco Automotive. "Using the common nuisance of potholes as a backdrop, we were able to highlight the performance Monroe shocks and struts deliver and present the opportunity to get a full set for the price of three. The radio ad helped make the Monroe fall 200 promotion a great success." Monroe Reflex Monroe Reflex premium shocks and struts offer the ultimate in stability, control and safety, thanks to the patented Impact Sensor. The Impact Sensor acts as a switch between firm and soft compression damping. When the tire encounters a bump or pothole, the Impact Sensor switch opens in 12 milliseconds to absorb the impact. The switch then closes in 15 milliseconds, thus restoring a firm ride and maximum tire-to-road contact. Available for passenger cars, light trucks and sport utility vehicles, Reflex shocks and struts are tuned according to the vehicle application suspension, not just fit. This type of engineering enables Reflex to deliver firm damping control during normal conditions and optimum road contact during tight turns, evasive maneuvers and emergency braking. Monroe Sensa-Trac Monroe Sensa-Trac premium shocks and struts use the exclusive Safe-Tech System to provide drivers with a high degree of comfort, enhanced control and optimal braking. The United States Auto Club (USAC) has tested and certified that Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks and struts with the Safe-Tech System can reduce 60 mph braking distances by an average of 10 feet when compared to the same vehicles equipped with at least one 50-percent degraded shock.
