U.S. Navy Awards Phase II Contract to I.D. Systems; Wireless Industrial Fleet Management System to be Implemented at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
HACKENSACK, N.J.--Sept. 5, 2001--I.D. Systems, Inc. , a leading provider of end-to-end wireless asset management solutions, today announced that the United States Navy has initiated funding of Phase II of a three-phase contract for the Company's wireless industrial fleet management system.In the initial stage of Phase II, the Company's system will be implemented on forklifts at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS). Under the same contract, Phase II can be expanded to encompass additional equipment at PNS.
The contract also encompasses a third phase, subject to acceptance of Phase II and agreement on certain terms. Under Phase III, I.D. Systems' wireless fleet management technology could be purchased by other U.S. naval facilities throughout the world.
I.D. Systems' U.S. Navy contract resulted from the efforts of the Navy's Smart Base Project Office, which was formed with the mission of improving naval base efficiency, productivity, and safety through the use of innovative commercial technologies. I.D. Systems' General Services Administration (GSA) contract also facilitated the contract award.
