RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 4, 2001 - #88 UPS driver Dale Jarrett returns to one of his favorite venues this Saturday at Richmond International Raceway. After winning at R.I.R. in 1997 and 1999, Jarrett and the rest of Team UPS hope his alternate year victory trend extends to 2001.

Items of note entering Saturday's Monte Carlo 400 (TNT; 7:30 p.m. EDT):

* In his most recent outing at Richmond, Jarrett finished 15th in the May 5th running of the Pontiac 400.

* The #88 UPS driver has enjoyed an abundance of short track success at Richmond. Overall, Jarrett owns two victories (Fall 1997 and Spring 1999), 10 top 5's and 11 top-10 finishes in 27 career starts dating back to 1987.

* A look at the record books (see page two for overall record) reveals a remarkable Richmond run for Jarrett between 1995-2000. He finished in the top 5 at R.I.R. nine out of ten times!

* Like any short track contest, Friday's qualifying will be the first key to success in the race on Saturday. Jarrett, in search of his first front row starting spot at R.I.R., had this to say:

"If you look at our history at Richmond, we've always raced better than we've qualified," he said. "It's been a couple of years since we've really put together a good qualifying effort there. Last time we started back a ways (20th), so we had to be patient to see if we could get there at the end. This time, I'd like to see how we can do starting near the front."
